Nous sommes Juliet Bruce Jones et Simon Ingman, un couple d’origine britannique qui vit dans le Languedoc depuis 2004. Nous avons acheté notre premier vignoble en 2011, une belle parcelle de Syrah dans une petite vallée à côté du village de Mailhac, à mi-chemin entre Carcassonne et Béziers. Au cours des années suivantes, nous avons acheté et planté plus de vignobles et rénové une cave dans la rue de La Tasque. Le premier millésime du Domaine La Tasque était en 2014.

We are Juliet Bruce Jones and Simon Ingman, a British couple who have called the Languedoc our home since 2004. We bought our first vineyard in 2011, a beautiful plot of Syrah in a little valley behind the village of Mailhac, half way between Carcassonne and Beziers. Over the next few years we acquired and planted more vineyards and renovated a winery in Rue de La Tasque. The first vintage of Domaine La Tasque was 2014.

Juliet est un ‘Master of Wine’, l’une des 417 dans le monde. Elle a 25 ans d’expérience dans l’achat, la vente et les dégustations du vin. Faire son propre vin est une expérience gratifiante – il y a quelque chose de nouveau à apprendre chaque jour.
Simon a une formation en biologie marine et en pharmaceutique. Lorsqu’il s’est installé en France, il était maître d’oeuvre et rénovait de vieilles maisons pour leur rendre leur gloire d’antan. Il s’occupe des vignes et se sert de ses compétences pratiques pour faire fonctionner les machines dans la cave et le chai. Pendant son temps libre, il se cache dans son garage et travaille sur ses voitures de collection, surtout la marque ‘Lancia’.

Juliet is a Master of Wine, one of only 417 in the world, and has 25 years experience of buying, selling, tasting and talking about wine. Making her own wine is both a rewarding and a humbling experience – there is something new to learn every day.
Simon’s background is in marine biology and pharmaceuticals and when he first moved to France he was a project manager, renovating old houses to their former glory. He is in charge of the vineyards and puts his practical skills to good use in making machines in the vineyard and winery work. In his spare time he retreats into his garage and works on his classic cars, mostly Lancias.

Le Domaine La Tasque est l’un des plus petits domaines viticoles de France avec seulement 3,5 hectares en production. Cela signifie que nous faisons (presque) tout nous-mêmes et que nous connaissons chaque vigne et chaque barrique. Nous utilisons un tracteur, mais une grande partie du travail de la vigne est effectuée à la main, de la taille à l’ébourgeonnage. Le désherbage et, bien sûr, les vendanges (où on a une équipe de vendangeurs qui travaille avec nous) sont aussi effectués à la main.

Domaine La Tasque is a small wine domaine with 6.5 hectares in production. We do (almost) everything ourselves and know each vine and barrel intimately. We do use a tractor, but much of the vineyard work is done by hand, from pruning to debudding, leaf plucking, weeding and, of course, harvesting where we rely on our team of skilled pickers.

Dans la cave, les raisins sont égrappés, foulés et vinifié séparément. En fonction des cuves, on travaille le marc par piégeage ou remontage. Une petite partie du vin est élevée en fûts de chêne pour donner de la complexité sans dominer le fruit.

In the winery, grapes are usually destemmed and crushed with the fruit from each vineyard vinified separately. Depending on the tank, the grapes skins are punched down by hand (and occasionally foot!). A small proportion of the wine is aged in oak barrels to add complexity of flavour without dominating the fruit.
